Project objectives
The IRMHUB project aims to develop the first European meta-hub dedicated to promoting an integrated investment network for the Critical Raw Materials sector. The meta-hub will coordinate three interregional demonstrators located in the project’s target territories: sustainable logistics, industrial symbiosis, and circular recovery of Critical Raw Materials, with particular focus on the strategic value chains of energy, batteries and electronics.
Through the implementation of the demonstrators, IRMHUB aims to catalyse investment in innovation in the Less Developed Regions of the European Union, leveraging their potential in terms of geological resources and recovery capacity. The project also seeks to contribute to the guidance and alignment of European policies across the entire Critical Raw Materials value chain, in a perspective of sustainability, resilience, and strategic autonomy.
The role of AFIL
Within the project, AFIL supports the mapping of stakeholders involved in the raw materials value chain, as well as the identification of ongoing project initiatives at European level.
In addition, the Cluster contributes to the project communication and dissemination activities, supporting the uptake of results achieved by the three Demonstrators and the innovations developed, and promoting their visibility among Lombardy stakeholders.
Opportunities for AFIL Members
Through AFIL’s participation in IRMHUB, Cluster Members have the possibility to gain an updated overview of the European Critical Raw Materials landscape and emerging technologies in the strategic value chains of energy, batteries, and electronics.
The project also offers the opportunity to connect with a broad interregional network of Clusters, research organisations, and industrial actors from across European regions, fostering the development of new collaborations and project initiatives.
Lastly, Members will benefit from a privileged channel of access to the results of the three interregional demonstrators, with particular focus on solutions developed in the areas of industrial symbiosis and circular recovery of Critical Raw Materials.
